OpenAI engineer Tibo told Astra users they fixed quality regressions: prior-model skills firing too often, an opt-in context-management experiment causing early stops/old-message replies (~4–5k users; now disabled), and badly configured engines hurting a long tail of traffic. Follow-through and latest-message tracking should feel better, with a reset landing by midnight.
OpenAI Developers urged builders to revisit skills, AGENTS.md, and task prompts for GPT-6 Astra—make skill triggers specific, load guidance when relevant, and define what done looks like. Companion developer blog is live.
OpenAI staffer reach_vb notes that after updating Codex and selecting Astra, enabling [features.context_management] experimental_mode = true in ~/.codex/config.toml lets the agent keep notes across context windows and search earlier messages and tool outputs (including details missing from its notes)—useful for long debugging and large refactors. Requires ChatGPT Plus, Pro, or Pro Lite.
