Claude's Python and TypeScript SDKs now ship built-in computer-use and browser-use toolsets: the SDK runs the agent loop, you only write the driver
Anthropic's Python SDK 1.12.0 and TypeScript SDK 0.132.0 add computer_toolset_20260801 and browser_toolset_20260801: a single tools[] entry declares a whole family of desktop or browser actions, the SDK tool_runner executes them in order and stops at the first failure, and url_policy, file_policy and confirm hooks run before each call. Developers no longer hand-write the loop that maps clicks and keystrokes to commands; they subclass an abstract toolset and plug in their own VNC, DevTools or hosted-browser backend.

Microsoft Research and UC Berkeley open-source TokenEconomizer, a plugin that cuts Claude Code and Codex costs by 18.4–30.9% on SWE-Bench without changing the agent
Microsoft Research, Microsoft Security and UC Berkeley open-sourced TokenEconomizer on GitHub (Apache 2.0, v0.1.0 released October 26), a plugin for Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI and Pi, with experimental opencode support. It learns from earlier sessions in the same repository: micro-skills remember repo facts, tool pruning drops tool definitions that go unused, and a loop guard nudges an agent that is stuck. The paper reports 18.4–30.9% lower mean cost across five agent and model combinations on 277 SWE-Bench tasks (paper figures).

X Discussion: Addy Osmani of Claude Code Warns of "Cognitive Surrender" and Urges Developers to Keep Critical Thinking When Agents Do the Work
Addy Osmani (@addyosmani), whose X bio lists Claude Code at Anthropic, posted a long article on X on November 3 titled "Critical thinking when agents do the work." He describes a spectrum of working with AI: cognitive offloading (delegating a task but owning the result), deferral (the tool output becomes your new input), and "cognitive surrender" (the AI output quietly becomes your own and you feel no need to check it), a term he credits to Steven Shaw and Gideon Nave at Wharton. He offers self-check questions and verification habits. Within about three hours the post drew roughly 1,400 likes, 2,400 bookmarks and more than 72,000 views and reached X trending. These are the author's views, not an Anthropic announcement.
