xAI adds a guidelines field to the Grok API for per-request moderation of NSFW, violence and profanity

On Oct 28 xAI announced on the official @grok account that all API customers can now add a guidelines array to text requests and set the nsfw, violence and profanity categories to decline, so Grok tightens that content while it writes rather than through after-the-fact filtering. The field works on the Responses API, Chat Completions and the xAI Python SDK; multi-agent models and deferred completions are not supported, and invalid values are rejected with 400 or 422 before the model runs.

xAI adds a guidelines field to the Grok API for per-request moderation of NSFW, violence and profanity

Key Takeaways

  • Three categories: nsfw, violence and profanity; the only behavior today is decline, and unlisted categories keep the default (docs)
  • Works on the Responses API, Chat Completions and chat.create in the xAI Python SDK; with the OpenAI Python SDK pass it via extra_body
  • Applies only to the request that carries it, so send it on every turn; the xAI SDK chat object stores it for you
  • Not supported on multi-agent models such as grok-4.20-multi-agent or deferred completions; duplicate categories return 400 and unknown values return 422
  • The official post had about 592K views and 271 likes when this was written

Tencent Hunyuan open-sources Hy Memory 2.0: ~3B-active memory writer averages 55.49 across four harnesses (vendor-reported, edging Opus 5), plus MemHub local memory for Claude Code, Cursor and Codex

On Oct 16 Tencent Hunyuan open-sourced Hy Memory 2.0 in three layers: the Apache-2.0 memory-writer model Hy-Memory-30B-A3B (~3B active, HF weights plus arXiv report), a Python SDK covering Chat, Working and Coding scenes (PyPI hy-memory 2.0.x), and local-first MemHub (CLI + macOS, preview). Per Tencent, swapping it in as the writer across Mem0, MemOS, Hy-Memory and held-out EverMemOS yields a 55.49 average vs 54.62 for Claude Opus 5, measured on fixed 20% subsamples; it still trails Opus 5 on several individual metrics.

Claude's Python and TypeScript SDKs now ship built-in computer-use and browser-use toolsets: the SDK runs the agent loop, you only write the driver

Anthropic's Python SDK 1.12.0 and TypeScript SDK 0.132.0 add computer_toolset_20260801 and browser_toolset_20260801: a single tools[] entry declares a whole family of desktop or browser actions, the SDK tool_runner executes them in order and stops at the first failure, and url_policy, file_policy and confirm hooks run before each call. Developers no longer hand-write the loop that maps clicks and keystrokes to commands; they subclass an abstract toolset and plug in their own VNC, DevTools or hosted-browser backend.

Claude's Python and TypeScript SDKs now ship built-in computer-use and browser-use toolsets: the SDK runs the agent loop, you only write the driver

Key Takeaways

  • Versions: Python anthropic 1.12.0 and TypeScript SDK 0.132.0 (2026-10-07) add typed computer and browser toolset calls
  • The computer toolset covers 17 actions (screenshot, left_click, type, scroll, zoom...); unimplemented ones are sent as enabled: false (docs)
  • The browser toolset adds navigate, tabs, read_page, read_network, form_input, file_upload and more, with url_policy checked on every navigate (docs)
  • Official 7-step safety checklist: URL policy, request interception, container egress rules, file policy, confirm gates, per-session isolation, treat page content as untrusted
  • ClaudeDevs announcement drew 3,500+ likes and 248K views; no new benchmark numbers were published

Anthropic Python SDK 1.8.0: Claude Opus 5.5, inline tool definitions, MCP tool-list pinning (beta)

Anthropic shipped the official Python SDK v1.8.0 on 2026-09-22 (PyPI anthropic 1.8.0). Versus 1.7.0 it adds claude-opus-5-5, inline tool definitions, and MCP tool-list pinning (beta) into client types/runners; fixes a shared evaluated_permission enum across Managed Agents events, a Python 3.13 crash when a stream is left open at exit, immediate add_tools() effect, and stripping reply-only params from the tool runner compaction request. For stacks already on Opus 5.5 and MCP-managed tools, this is the typed client surface that matches the server features.

Mem0 Python SDK 2.2.1: add() stops fake ADD successes; Bedrock Claude reasoning + Turbopuffer filter/score fixes

Mem0 Python SDK v2.2.1 (2026-09-25, PyPI mem0ai 2.2.1) makes Memory/AsyncMemory.add() report only vector-store inserts that actually succeeded—raising VectorStoreError when none insert—restores context-manager close semantics, fixes Bedrock Anthropic Converse to read the first text-bearing content block (after optional reasoningContent), applies full Turbopuffer filter operators, and remaps euclidean(_squared)/S3 Vectors scores to 1/(1+distance). Same-day Node SDK ts-v3.3.1 stops injecting OpenAI default baseURL/model into non-OpenAI providers.

Key Takeaways

  • Shipped: Python v2.2.1 / PyPI mem0ai 2.2.1; Node ts-v3.3.1 same day
  • Correctness: add() returns only inserted memories; raises VectorStoreError if none insert
  • Bedrock Anthropic: read first text-bearing Converse block after optional reasoningContent
  • Turbopuffer filters: full eq/ne/gt/gte/lt/lte/in/nin; unsupported ops raise ValueError
  • Scores: euclidean_squared and S3 Vectors euclidean map via 1/(1+distance) to avoid negatives/collapse-to-zero
